Assessing manhole conditions using LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanning

A LiDAR sensor, mounted on a inversion tri-pod, is used to scan the area around the manhole. The sensor emits laser beams that bounce off surfaces and return to the sensor, allowing it to create a detailed point cloud representation of the manhole and its surroundings.

Specialized software is used to extract features from the point cloud data. This could involve identifying the manhole cover, detecting cracks, measuring deformations, assessing the overall structural condition, and capturing surrounding features like nearby roads, curbs, and buildings.
